Whenever, I see a New Yorker Magazine article or a new book by Lawrence Wright, I read it. It all began with The Looming Tower: Al Qaeda and the Road to 9/11 (2006), his non-fiction (page turner) tome about the ascent of Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. More recently, I enjoyed his fictitious account of the catastrophic spread of an uncontrollable virus (The End of October). Then, soon after, he wrote a fascinating history of The Plague Year: America in the Time of Covid. So now, hearing he has a new book, I am already enjoying it. Called Mr. Texas, it has given me an unforgettable fictitious (perhaps) taste of Texas politics that I recommend to you.
