Why Berlin Had Piles of Potatoes
January 30, 2026Every once in a while, (and sometimes each day) I listen to a great podcast, enjoy an article, or see a good video that I want to share with you. These are my e-links.

More economic than its first appears, NYC’s new mayor has a closet-full of new jackets. Event appropriate, each jacket conveys an explicit and implicit message. For the snowstorm emergency, he wore a custom Carhartt with Mayor embroidered on the arm. In addition, if you had looked inside his collar, you would have seen, “No problem too big. No task too small.”
The Mayor’s inauguration jacket:

At other times, he had event appropriate attire that connected to the Department of Sanitation and to Emergency Management. Somewhat similarly, his inauguration outfit featured a custom tie from a New Delhi-based designer. Described by GQ, he even used the more elegant four-in-hand knot rather than the Windsor.
Indeed, the Mayor has a flair for creating articles that are good reads. Also though, because a behavioral economist might say that Mayor Mamdani is (quite cleverly) signaling a mix of messages that range from the jacket to the tie, I recommend this week’s e-links.
