It’s always fun to take a look at The Economist’s Big Mac Index. Described as a comparison of Big Mac prices around the world, the 2021 Index is really much more. Because it is interactive, you can play with entering a slew of different places. Then, what you find out relates to purchasing power, GDP, relative affluence. and the unexpected.

I like to check out the Pew Research Fact Tank. Using their words, they are my source of “the news in the numbers.” This week they looked at our lawmakers’ social media use during the Capitol riot:
Their focus though could be economic, gender, generational. It could be the U.S. or the world. Whatever the topic, it is a fast and interesting read.

Not very many of us remember the 1964 Alaska earthquake. And even fewer people have heard of Genie Chance. In a riveting NY Times Daily podcast, I learned how a newscaster saved a city during a disaster. It was so wonderful hearing how one person’s courageous decisions can make a massive difference. It was also a pleasure having a good 49 minutes.
