Friday’s e-links (5/08)

Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm Ravaged Hospital tells a story in which economics, medicine, and ethics converge. About much more than the impact of Hurricane Katrina on one hospital, the book unforgettably portrays the haunting tradeoffs we make during emergencies. Although I read the book years ago, I still remember and recommend it. As an e-link, a year or so ago, I recommended Five Days at Memorial. Now though in the midst of another national emergency, it is ever more relevant.

Friday’s e-links (5/01)

I’ve just discovered a new podcast series that has made my daily four mile walks more pleasant. Called Business Wars, it uses seven episodes to present the origin and interaction for two companies that compete. I’ve listened to the seven on  Starbucks and Dunkin’. Other pairs include Amazon/Walmart and The North Face/Patagonia. Do listen. It looks good.
