Researching my new book (publication next July), I’ve been reading Collapse The Fall of the Soviet Union. For a chapter that includes the evolution of the Soviet economy from tradition to command to Gorbachev and Perestroika, Collapse has the facts I need. But also, to my surprise, the book has grabbed me. Whereas it looks like a weighty tome, the author, Professor Vladislav Zubok has an easy to read, inviting writing style that is really interesting. And happily, if you are not ready for more than 400 pages on Russia, this podcast discussion with Dr. Zubok was excellent. Whichever you select, with the world focusing on Russia, Collapse is especially relevant.
