Through a Journal podcast, we can learn about a gargantuan Chinese company that could be facing a Lehman moment. Called Evergrande, the firm borrowed many billions of dollars to finance its property development. In just 16 minutes I heard all I should have known about a borrower that sold bonds globally and now could default. The tradeoff was a housing boom through which almost all of China’s urban population owns a home.
