As the U.S. election approaches, from time to time, we will take a look at economic proposals that would have a massive impact. To start, I wanted to share a Peterson Institute for International Economics symposium and video. In the video, they take us through the numbers that demonstrate the impact of deporting large numbers of undocumented immigrants. Indeed, when we look at plunging real GDP and employment, and rising inflation (in selected sectors), we clearly see that deportation is not the solution. Furthermore, although they do not look at entitlements, we need to know that the youth tilt of immigrants will fund a soon-to-be insolvent Social Security trust fund.
