I suggest subscribing to the NBER Digest. Free (though nothing is free) and emailed monthly, the Digest is composed of approximately seven summaries of new NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) papers. As a record of recent research, it is a handy barometer of what eminent scholars are considering. I especially liked the May issue because of a study that connected patent laws to opera quality and quantity.
