When I want to leave today and enjoy some timeless thoughts, I like to listen to Cautionary Tales. Always economic in some fun way, the most recent one I’ve done my walk with was the story of Isaac Singer. Uncovering more about the evolution of the sewing machine than we ever imagined, the podcast was captivating. It took us to several men, to marriages, to the challenge of mechanized stitches. The story was good and the economic history, surprising. But I guess as always, once we look closely there is so much more to the story. And, in Cautionary Tales, Tim Harford tells it all with a gifted spin.
