Now that I no longer have a Sue Grafton alphabet mystery to look forward to, my favorite sleuths are from Anthony Horowitz. The screen writer who brought us Foyle’s War, Horowitz created a new pleasure for me by pairing a retired detective and a stand-in for Horowitz. In “A Line to Kill,” the two visit a small island for a literary festival when the unlikely happens. The third novel for “the sleuth and the scribbler,” it is clever, funny, and captivating. Like me, you might enjoy this diversion from work and the world.
