August 2026 Friday’s e-links: Learning More About Asian and Afircan Economic Development

Every once in a while, (and sometimes each day), I listen to a great podcast, enjoy an article, or see a good video that I want to share with you. These are my e-links.

This week, returning again to Odd Lots, I don’t recommend a recent podcast on Nigeria’s economic development. The podcast initially focused on the Dangote Refinery. and then other related facts about their economy. Although the information had potential, a bland delivery rapidly lost me. Instead, I plan to read the transcript. However, I did stay long enough to be enticed by two books that I will order today. Written by Joe Studwell, and described in these FT reviews, here and here, How Asia Works and How Africa Works sounded like ideal summaries of each region’s development.
