Rarely is a podcast as inspirational as Steve Levitt’s talk with Steven Strogatz. Dr. Strogatz explained the wonder of math through examples that ranged from our DNA to fireflies. Speaking as an everyday person, a researcher, a mathematician, and a teacher, he focused on math appreciation. As he conveyed the wonder of numbers, I thought about how our schools could do a better job of encouraging us to want to learn more about all topics. Most crucially though, he was fun to listen to.
