Not very many of us remember the 1964 Alaska earthquake. And even fewer people have heard of Genie Chance. In a riveting NY Times Daily podcast, I learned how a newscaster saved a city during a disaster. It was so wonderful hearing how one person’s courageous decisions can make a massive difference. It was also a pleasure having a good 49 minutes.

Like me, I suspect you will really enjoy this feel good story about how a Frito-Lay janitor not only invents Flamin’ Hot Cheetos but then gets a meeting with the Frito-Lay CEO. The man said he had a Ph.d. He was Poor, Hungry, and Determined.
