A Norwegian trilogy just captivated me. And, quite happily, listening to 1500 pages promises many hours of pleasure. Written by Lars Mytting, it is called the Sister Bells Trilogy. Most fundamentally, I just like Nordic writers. But beyond that, the vocabulary and sentences are so very literate. And, although the story unfolds slowly, it is a page turner. The tale begins in 1879 with two conjoined sisters and two church bells. As we follow Pastor Kai Schweigaard in the village of Butangen, the sisters, long dead, and the bells, all intertwine. To avoid being a spoiler, I can just say that have just begun the second book and again, it is wonderful.
Do read The Sister Bells Trilogy or listen to a wonderful recording. And please let me know what you think.
