Every once in a while, (and sometimes each day) I listen to a great podcast, enjoy an article, or see a good video that I want to share with you. These are my e-links.

Combining economics, current events, and history, a podcast about the dollar is my recommendation for this week. Called, “How the U.S. Dollar Came to Dominate the World,” its narrative moves among the acceptability of the dollar, its past, the present, and the institutions that preserve it. We even go to a bazaar in Iran where price halves if you pay with a dollar. But then, the discussion also goes back to the Civil War, ahead to Bretton Woods, and also to recent “de-dollarization” attempts. Tied together with comments from a panel of economists, the podcast takes us on a dollar tour. However, asked to sum it all up, the one word, we wind up with is confidence.
