This week I recommend an article and podcast that divert us from all of the current events we might appreciate not thinking about. Celebrating its 50th birthday, Saturday Night Live (originally called NBC’s Saturday Night) has had one person that invented it. Now, in the New Yorker, we can learn what Lorne Michaels does and how. Renging from Belushi and Radner to Fey and Jost, we can meet 50 years of the talented people he hired. Perhaps most fascinating though, we see how the show’s script evolves each week.
