October 2024 Friday’s e-links: Meeting India’s Factory Workers

Every once in a while, (and sometimes each day) I listen to a great podcast, enjoy an article, or see a good video that I want to share with you.

This week, in a class assignment, I shared two articles that resound far beyond school. The first was published in the NY Times more than a decade ago. And yet, focusing on two sisters that leave an Indian village to work in a big city factory, it is timeless. But then, fortuitously, the Financial Times had the update. Initially looking at Indian women’s safety, it was about much more. For me, the message was where women can participate meaningfully in a developing economy. I guess finally, that takes us to a global perspective. For that, the WEF’s 2024 Global Gender Report completes the picture. I suggest you take a look.
