As a phrase that stuck, “Made in America” sounds simple. However, when we talk with a garment worker about the threads she snips all day, the goal is less attainable. Because the woman is paid by the piece, she might make less than a minimum wage. Furthermore, her job is tedious and requires a skill that few U.S. workers have.
