Through 99% Invisible, I’ve listened to a wonderful array of stories whose topics ranged from red light duration to emoji creation. Now though, I especially recommend their newest object history series. Called “A History of the United States in 100 Objects,” the podcasts surprised me. Yes, they discuss tangible commodities like a century safe (with supposedly memorable contents). But also, they’ve selected items like a pension list. In other words, their 100 items are not at all typical. Instead, so very meaningfully, they generate thought about the real United States past.
