“Our Tax System Should Make You Furious” is a podcast that was especially relevant this week. Talking with tax specialist/law professor Ray Madoff, journalist Ezra Klein asks about the techniques of the ultra-wealthy. They include the downside of salaries, the upside of loans and stock, and how to optimize estate planning. Not relevant for most of us, still, it is all very interesting. And happily, Professor Madoff ends with suggestions for eliminating the abuses. For more, I also would recommend her book, The Second Estate: How the Tax Code Made an American Aristocracy.
