Having followed Nobel Laureate Claudia Goldin’s papers and books for decades, I was delighted to have discovered a follow-up. Through FT’s The Economics Show, I met and learned from Martha Bailey, an economics professor at UCLA. Dr. Bailey’s research focuses on the economic consequences of contraception. Extremely concerned about the impact of President Trump’s policies on birth control, she detailed the impact in a podcast. Looking at decades of women’s work, at education, at births, at pay, she adds to what Dr. Goldin told us about the huge significance of a little pill. By taking us back and looking ahead, the podcast anchors women’s present plight–especially low income women– with solid analysis.
