Like me, maybe you really care about your coffee. I mail order my beans, grind them before each cup, and use a pour over Chemex. So, this week’s e-link focuses on the science of making the best pour over. In a NY Times article, a University of Pennsylvania physics professor realized that basic physics principles explained how to generate the best coffee flavor. It relates to the speed of the water and height of your kettle. It takes us to a liquid’s absorption rate and fluid dynamics. But do take a look. Even if don’t like coffee, the ideas are more universal. Also, they are fun to read about.
I should add that I’ve done what he suggests. And yes, it works.
