Olive Kitteridge has always been my favorite. As a result, I was totally delighted that Olive returns in Elizabeth Strout’s newest novel, Tell Me Everything. But then, for even more of a treat, Ms. Strout’s Lucy Barton and Bob Burgess also join the reunion. As someone that likes a “page-turner,” I was surprised that this book grabbed me so firmly. Sometimes the plot moves along. However, even when it does not, the protagonists share simple stories that are unexpectedly compelling. While Olive tells some of them to Lucy and others compose the book’s narrative, all stories resound. And finally, Elizabeth Strout promised, in this interview, that Olive would remain alive, always.
Today, Tell Me Everything is my e-link recommendation.
