Friday’s e-links 9/20/24
With no great new e-link from this past week, instead I suggest returning to a Sara Blakely interview from 2016. A part of the How I Built This series, the story of Spanx is especially inspirational. Trying to sell her Spanx prototype, Blakely would not give up. However, I was especially impressed with her first department store experience. At Neiman Marcus, rather cleverly, she made sure that Spanx had sufficient sales to guarantee a subsequent order for more. While all of this could just wind up as a factual narrative, Blakely makes it really interesting. As a result, while I always share this podcast with my students, still I also recommend it outside the classroom as a “good listen.”
